Frequently asked questions

What can I expect from you, my coach?

You can expect me to be:
  • focused on you and your goals
  • determined to keep you on track for results
  • believing in your phenomenal potential and in your ability to achieve success
  • unconditionally constructive and objective
  • cheering you on, encouraging and supportive
  • enthusiastic about your success
  • persistent but patient
  • direct, frank and honest
  • discreet–my client list is confidential.
You will not read about yourself in my promotional material.

Your success, not the marketing of my coaching practice is my main motive.

What do you expect from me, your client?

My 3 Rs for coaching are that you, my client, are:

Ready

  • ready for coaching now with no self–imposed barriers to action and progress;
  • ready (as in 'keen') for change;
  • ready and determined to take any necessary action;
  • ready to suspend your disbelief;
  • ready to adopt a more positive attitude.

Responsive

  • open to change;
  • frank and straight–talking;
  • willing to break patterns and to step out of your comfort zone.

Reliable

  • about keeping appointments and making payments;
  • about keeping to commitments you have made to take action and not sabotaging yourself.

What framework do you use in your sessions?

At the start of each session, we review the actions you have taken, before working on your goals, using a unique coaching framework, the WHY NOT?! model, which I devised myself. My clients have found it a particularly effective model. I do my best to avoid hype, as well as 'insider' jargon, neither of which empowers clients.

How long will the coaching last?

Many clients find that they commit to, and go on to make changes within a short period of time. However, to sustain that change, and to refine goals can take a little longer. That is why coaches often begin by making a two to three month commitment and asking for the same from their clients.

The frequency of sessions depends on your circumstances and stamina! The majority of my clients find a coaching call of 45 minutes works best for them.

Once you are achieving your goals, and your life is moving forward with momentum, you might consider switching to maintenance coaching. This allows you to ring me for instant coaching during specific time slots.

What is the procedure for the coaching call?

You ring me at the scheduled time from an environment in which you can speak without being disturbed. The time slot we agree on is your time slot. If you need to re–schedule it, please give me at least 24 hours' notice.

It's a good idea, also, to schedule a quiet 'window' of at least 15 minutes, before the call, to relax and to prepare for the session.

Some of my clients prefer to use a hands–free phone, so that they can make notes. However, rather than trying to make detailed notes during the call, focus on the coaching.

Towards the end of the call, we will review the discussion and agree on actions that you will take before the next session. It's then that it's most useful for you to make notes.

What if I have questions that you have not answered here?

Please feel free to contact me before your first coaching session, by e–mail or telephone. Neither of us will want queries about procedures to use up time during a coaching session, where every minute counts and should be focused on you.

What does the coaching fee cover?

The fee covers your coaching session and any follow–ups from me, between sessions. Unlimited e–mail contact between sessions is also included in our coaching relationship. So are brief (up to 10 minutes) unscheduled telephone calls between our scheduled sessions.

When is payment due?

Payment should be in advance. If you prefer, you can arrange to pay the fee over three months, with each payment due on the first of the month.
